Major Gift Fundraising During COVID-19. Major gift officers face unique challenges during COVID-19 as they identify, cultivate, and solicit donor prospects. Women in Development will convene a panel of leaders from across different industries who are addressing the short and long-term impacts of the pandemic on major gift fundraising. Join us as they share their experiences from the last year and offer advice on how to succeed in a virtual environment.

Managing Up, Out, and Across. Learn about strategies, tips, and tools you can use for working remotely; managing up to your bosses, and being effective with your peers.

Planned Giving. This workshop will help you to build confidence in an area of development that can at times be a bit intimidating. BNY Mellon’s Crystal Thompkins will equip you with tips, tools, and trends to better use planned giving as a successful annual fundraising strategy. 

WID’s Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Committee Presents Reaching Your Apex: Identifying and Achieving Your Professional Mission.  A panel of BIPOC women discuss challenges, successes, and lessons learned as they have navigated sexism, racism, or ageism in their quest to identify and achieve their professional mission.

Changing Jobs During the Pandemic: How to Put Your Best Foot Forward in a Virtual World. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from – and ask your questions of – experts in recruitment, human resources, and career coaching, and a development professional who made her career move.

How to Be a Successful Consultant. During this session, we will talk to three dynamic development entrepreneurs who have successfully grown their businesses during this pandemic. Speakers include Rhea Wong of Rhea Wong consulting, who opened for business this past year (in the midst of a global pandemic and the resulting economic recession) after serving as a successful Executive Director; Christa Orth, Principal at Wingo NYC, which has been in business in NYC for 25 years and offers a unique blend of fundraising and donor communication services; and Bix Gabriel, Co-Founder of TakeTwo Services, founded in 2011 and offering a full range of development and communications services for nonprofits of all sizes. All three entrepreneurs offer unique perspective on how to be a successful consultant, how to start a business, best practices, and pivoting during a pandemic.
